BIOGRAPHY
Mad Good is a singer-songwriter project from San Francisco-based, Kiev-born artist Konstantin Domnitser. His original reflective, honest lyrics, along with an atmospheric touch feel like a road trip through an internal abyss of love, loss, and regret. A writer and arranger of several dozen songs, Konstantin began writing at the tender age of 16, at a time when he was drawn to the melodic repertoire of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Beatles. Konstantin’s songs reflect his search for an ideal state of the soul, while always remaining a bit short.
You Know Who You Are, the new album from Mad Good, is
Konstantin’s soul-searching testament of a 30-40 year persona trying to find himself through direct and confrontational reflection on relationships, friendships, and life choices. The character in the songs should, by all accounts, be happy, yet struggles to shed a pervasive
melancholy, a universal feeling all too familiar to many.
The album is fulfillingly tasteful in its minimalist style, reflecting the sincerity of the lyrics. The arrangements are sparse but claustrophobic, driven by acoustic guitar and filled in with occasional drums, bass, and keys. Reminiscent of indie folk heroes like Elliot Smith, Jack Johnson, and Sea Change-era Beck, this album is a confession about the guilt of feeling unsatisfied and the resulting sadness of everyday life. It is a musical collage of the passing days.
